Such a variety of emotions... anticipation, contentment, serenity and thrill all compressed into one iota of a moment. The instant of running my exploring fingers over the pages of a new book. Newness of the copy itself has very little to do with it. In fact, sometimes the older the book, that more character it's worn pages provides my avid imagination to create it's pathway through existence. The emotion lies in the unknown descriptions, characters, adventures, romances, places and history my mind craves but doesn't even know yet exists. It's like going home to your favorite place in the world but never knowing what you'll find there each time. I don't know if that analogy computes in anyone else's brain besides mine... but even writing about it stimulates neurons deep in my brain that have my itching to race to my bookshelves.
Reading. It's been such a part of me for so long, I can't remember books not being an important part of my life. I have my wonderful parents to credit for that. It began with my pre-K self standing in front of the small bookshelf in the very back of the old South Jordan library. I don't remember a single title of those square, shiny-paged, paper-back books that I started with...only 3 words per page. But I read them-- all. My mom said she'd pay me a nickel a page. That gets a kid's mind racing and eyes moving. However, the beauty of it all was I honestly can't remember when the monetary payment stopped because an emotional payoff took over.
One of my dreams is to have a library in my home. It doesn't have to be large (okay, okay, I might have imagined a Beauty & the Beast library in my wildest dreams) but just one room-designated to the love of the excitingly unexplored and the lovingly familiar. In this process of building my own library, book by book, I want YOUR input. Yes, you. Book recommendations are always high on my questions for people. I love asking for favorites or their current read... so now I'm asking blogosphere. As many as I can get... pour it on. I really, really want to know....

Interesting, I am going to have to look back at your ansers cause I am always looking for reccomendations myself.
My favorites are The Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon (though I feel kinda weird reccomending it cause I will say there is a few scenes that must be skipped over, little racy). Of course I love Harry Potter, Scarlett Pimpernel is a favorite, I loved The Help, just finished that one. Anything by Mary Higgins Clark I love. Good mysteries are my favorites. I LOVED Fire of the Covenant by Gerald Lund, that is probably my top choice. That's all that is coming to mind at the moment.
I just finished "The Walk" by Richard Paul Evans and really liked that.
One of my all-time favorites is My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult. I also liked the Fablehaven series and Candyshop wars by Brandon Mull. Nanny Diaries was also pretty good. I'm going to have to steal some of these ideas too! Just got a Kindle and have no idea what I want to put on it. :)
favorites??? how can I choose? Some of mine that I have read as of late: The Thirteenth Tale, The forgotten Garden, Redeeming Love, These is my words, Things Fall Apart, The color of water, Hunger Games, Unwind, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, and The Number Four. Megan, seriously I want the beauty and the beast library too. I especially need the rolling ladder! I am just glad I am an English teacher and it is part of my job to read!

Wow! You are a straight up N.E.R.D.! ;) Not that there is anything wrong with that. I would like to recommend a favorite to you, but see...I don't read much. I had never been a fan of sitting down and reading (usually I'd fall asleep). However, I am taking The Help and a couple of HP books on vacay with me.
Actually, I lied. I read everyday...to my sons. Our favorites right now are the "Little Miss Spider" books for R and Dya likes the "I Spy" series. Enjoy! ;)
Nate should be the one recommending books to you because he is constantly reading book after book like you. My all time favorite book is Les Miserables (the largest of the abridged versions) and I also loved Jane Eyre. Tuesdays with Morrie is wonderful but I'm sure everyone knows that. The Last Lecture is another book somewhat similar to Morrie that I enjoyed. We should talk about this when we are in town this month so Nate can share his favorites with you too. Can't wait to see you!

My all time favorite books are To Kill a Mockingbird and Jane Eyre.
But I've also read Daughter of the Forest by Juliette Marillier about 5 times. I've read EVERY book she wrote and loved them.
My newest favorite read is Pioneer Woman: Black Heels to Tractor Wheels. You will die laughing.

The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss is also excellent if you like fantasy. Anything by Brandon Sanderson is also fabulous (again, if you like fantasy).
If you like thought provoking - try anything by Jodi Piccoult. But watch out, she uses A LOT of swear words.
